Who We Are

Testimony

Steve and Jacquie were both raised in loving and supportive Christian homes and each recieved Christ as their personal Savior at a young age. God was at work in both Steve and Jacquie’s lives as they grew up in two very different cultures. Steve lived in numerous farming communities across Southern Ontario as the son of a bank manager. Jacquie grew up in Japan where her parents, Carl and Wilma De Boer are church-planting missionaries.

Steve and Jacquie were married in 1989 and immediately were interested and involved in ministry to youth. Steve pursued his sincere regard for young people and worked as a Correctional Officer and Youth Worker/Counsellor to Young Offenders for thirteen years. Jacquie enjoyed teaching in the elementary public school system for three years prior to the birth of their first daughter.

God's call came in 1993 when they were faced with dealing with the tragic death of their close friend, Scott. In their grief, Steve and Jacquie claimed God's soverignty, gave Him the power to govern their lives and commited to make their lives count for Christ. They realized then that God was asking them to tarry no longer, to break away from their comfortable lifestyle and pursue full-time missions.

Ministry

Steve and Jacquie, along with their three daughters, Lauren (12), Rachael (10) and Caitlin (7) are excited to be able to minister together as a family at Christian Academy in Japan (CAJ), an international Christian school in Tokyo, Japan. They are second generation missionaries reaching the next generation.

God has shaped Steve and Jacquie's character, given them unique life experiences and gifted them spiritually. They are particularly suited to the ministry God has called them to. Steve has the gifts of management and helps and has discovered that he can best serve the Lord by serving others. Steve is the Facility Coordinator at CAJ and maintains the facilities and oversees the day-to-day, and special events operations at the school. Jacquie is a kindergarten teacher and elementary school Head Teacher. She utilizes her gifts to develop and support curriculum implementation and participates in staff development.

Steve and Jacquie's passion for young people and previous life experiences have equipped them to better meet the unique needs of the 'third culture kids' at CAJ. In addition to their staff positions, they are involved as leaders of the Youth program on Sundays and in a variety of other ministries to youth.

Steve and Jacquie live in the local community and enjoy the culture of Japan tremendously. With Jaccquie's fluent Japanese and Steve's outgoing character they are able to develop friendships readily with the Japanese and have an active Friendship/Hospitality ministry.
